What to expect, from day one.
Starting treatment can feel overwhelming. Here's what your first days and weeks may look like at Oak Grove Recovery, in Westerville, just outside Columbus.
A warm, judgment-free welcome
From the moment you arrive, our staff will help you feel safe and supported. You'll get oriented, have your questions answered, and start building a plan that fits your needs.
Medical detox
If you need help stopping alcohol or other substances safely, you'll begin with medically monitored detox, with 24/7 nursing support to ease withdrawal symptoms. Length of stay is individualized to your needs.
Residential treatment
After detox, you'll move to residential care, which includes individual therapy, group sessions, family therapy, and time to reflect and heal. Length of stay is individualized to your needs.
Personalized, integrated care
Your story matters. We don't use a one-size-fits-all approach, and we address mental health and substance use together to ensure your full story is heard.
Many clients face co-occurring mental health challenges like depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or bipolar disorder. Depending on your needs, you may engage in therapies including:
- Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)
- Trauma therapy
- Motivational interviewing (MI)
- Life skills training
If medication-assisted treatment is appropriate, you may receive medications like Suboxone, Subutex, or Vivitrol alongside counseling to manage cravings and support your recovery.
What to bring
- Comfortable clothing and everyday hygiene products
- Medications and medical history
- Contact information for loved ones
Please leave behind any substances, valuables, or items that may distract from your recovery. If you're not sure what's allowed, our admissions team is happy to walk you through it before you arrive.
How long you'll stay
Recovery doesn't follow a one-size-fits-all timeline. Many clients begin with detox or withdrawal management, followed by residential treatment. Your length of stay is individualized — we check in often and adjust your treatment plan as needed, keeping your long-term healing as the focus. Once residential treatment is complete, you'll have access to ongoing support and referrals to trusted outpatient providers.
